  • Sennheiser PMX 685i headphones

Despite the Kindle Fire HDX having an awesome set of speakers, sometimes you just want to listen to something in peace or in private.

I've been through literally hundreds of headphones over the years and the Sennheiser PMX 685i are my favorites. Not only are they rugged and sweatproof – ideal for the gym – but they are comfortable and give out great sound.

  • Seriously?????

The only Fire HDX which comes close to the iPad in features is the 8.9, and it most surely is NOT cheaper than the iPad. It is the only model which has a rear facing camera. Front facing cameras are hardly useful at all unless one is involved in "face time" type of activity or posting selfies. It is quite awkward to use to take real photos.
    • compare prices it is substantially cheaper

You must be comparing the 16G Ipad with the 64 G Fire HDX. It is way cheaper. Ipad Air 489 (Amazon price) Kindle Fire 16 G 379 (again amazon) So that sort of seems cheaper. Sometimes, willnot, you guys look to be offended and will take offense even when you get the facts wrong.
  • OtterBox Rox!

We put an OtterBox Defender on my 6 year old's KindleFire HDX 8.9" tablet. I NEVER worry about her dropping it. Clark Kent couldn't break this thing.
  • Love the Keyboard and cover

My wife has the 8.9 HDX with the keyboard and cover and she loves it. She has given up her laptop and does everything now with the kindle. We have one of the office suites so she is even able to keep up with her excel spreadsheets and then send them to coworkers. I still wish they would open up to the Google Play store. I think their sales would skyrocket and people would still use Amazon for most of their stuff.
    • Give up laptop?

I use my laptop to talk to raspberry Pi, Beaglebone, STM32 Discovery, etc. That means ethernet, and/or USB host. My iPad, while nice for reading books, fails on both these points.

problem is: unless Kindle have changed their design recently, they fail too. So giving up the laptop is *Not* an option.
