Yuile will take up the role from 1 July, reporting to Telecom NZ CEO Paul Reynolds.

"David brings with him considerable experience and knowledge of both the Australian telecommunications industry and the AAPT business, and understands the challenges of sustaining business growth in a complex and changing environment," said Reynolds.

Yuile started with Powertel in 2005, and moved to AAPT as general manager of networks following its acquisition by Telecom NZ in 2007. He has been general manager of networks and technology at AAPT since June 2008, and is AAPT's chief operating officer.

Broad's fixed-term contract with AAPT will expire on 1 July this year, and he is rumoured to be in line to head up Infrastructure NSW.

"I would like to thank Paul for his outstanding contribution during a period of unprecedented change in the telecommunications industry in Australia," Reynolds said.
