A software error left Optus customers in Adelaide's central business district (CBD) and metropolitan area without 3G internet and voice services this morning.

3G services in the Adelaide CBD and metropolitan area were unavailable to Optus customers from about 6am this morning. Optus told ZDNet Australia in a statement that the cause of the outage has been identified as a software issue with a radio network controller in the Adelaide CBD.

The company said that 3G voice services had been restored at 10am, but mobile internet services are currently still unavailable. 2G services were unaffected by the outage, according to the telco.

Optus has apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused.

Sydney residents suffered a similar outage in December last year following a transmission fault on the Optus network.
