in brief Telstra, Fujitsu and TransACT have been appointed to the Australian Government Information Management Office's whole-of-government telecommunications internet-based network connections services panel.

According to tender documents released in August last year, the panel will be responsible for providing internet services to government agencies.

The panel has been appointed for an initial term of three years, with the option to extend for a further two. The aim of the panel is to reduce procurement, overall government telecommunications costs and to allow bulk purchasing for government agencies.

Earlier this month the Australian Government Information Management Office beefed up its telecommunications management panel, adding Business Strategy Review, Cisco Systems, Cordelta, Envista, Telsoft, the Strategic Directions Group, UXC, Transpire and Veridian Solutions to an existing panel consisting of Boeing, Bridge IT Engineers, Consultel, Fujitsu, NEC, Telstra and Optus.
