Perth-based fibre network provider Amcom Telecommunications has announced a 33 per cent increase in half-year earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) to $13.8 million.

In an investor presentation posted on the Australian Stock Exchange today, the company said it had completed the roll-out of fibre services to the Northern Territory recently as part of its $20 million five-year contract with the NT Government. It has also begun billing for services in the territory, with $500,000 worth of additional services already sold.

The growth of the company's IP telephony business IP Systems also continued modestly, with the addition of 30 new business customers in the past six months.

Amcom said it was also on track to launch cloud services for around 1000 corporate customers in partnership with Dimension Data company BlueFire in May this year.

The company also revealed that more than 50 per cent of its revenue came from customers with connections of 1Gbps up to 10Gbps. In 2009, Amcom said that the then-advertised maximum 100Mbps speeds of the National Broadband Network (NBN) were too slow for the company's customers. Amcom differentiated itself from the NBN by stating these speeds were available to its business customers today.
