The launch of Apple's iPad next month will pave the way for the arrival of more than 50 tablet PC devices this year, an ARM executive said on Wednesday.

Speaking at a press event in Taipei, ARM worldwide mobile computing ODM manager Roy Chen said the company rented more space at the Computex electronics trade show to head off competition from primary chipmaking rival Intel.

Chen reportedly said that tablet devices will first arrive in the second quarter of 2010 from mobile carriers, with the full onslaught coming in the third quarter, according to Computerworld.
