12% of venture capitalists invest in energy, 19% on consumer businesses

12% of venture capitalists who responded to Deloitte & NVCA 2005 Global Venture Capital Survey surveyed said they are currently focusing on investments in energy/environment, with that figure jumping to 21% over the next 5 years. 19% of all VCs surveyed said they are currently focusing on consumer business companies, with that figure moving to 21% over the next 5 years.

12% of venture capitalists who responded to Deloitte & NVCA 2005 Global Venture Capital Survey surveyed said they are currently focusing on investments in energy/environment, with that figure jumping to 21% over the next 5 years. 19% of all VCs surveyed said they are currently focusing on consumer business companies, with that figure moving to 21% over the next 5 years. VCs indicated current investments in biopharmaceuticals at 32%, with that figure expected to decrease slightly to 29% over the next 5 years. Currently, technology is the lead focus for 51% of the VCs. This is expected to remain relatively steady at 48% over the next 5 years. Technology comprises software, communications/networking, information services, semiconductors, electronics and hardware.
