14.4 mln Symbian smartphones sold in 2004

Shipments of smart phones based on the Symbian operating system increased 115% in 2004 compared to 2003, Symbian Ltd announced. 14.4 mln Symbian-based smart phones were shipped in 2004, compared to 6.8 mln in 2003. Shipments reached 5.7 mln in Q4 of 2004, compared to 2.8 mln in the same period a year earlier. Nearly 2.5 mln phones were shipped in December 2004 alone.
