1E is answering IT managers or computer users who might be concerned about the impact that powering down their notebooks or desktop computers might have on night-time patching and management duties by creating a free wake-on-LAN app that works on iPhones and iPads.

The software, called 1E WakeUp, integrates with the company's NightWatchman power management software and also with some proactive computer health check technology. The company is pitching this as a management tool that gets beyond the power management realm. But it might also be helpful for those of you who have forgotten to access something from your computer at the office and need some sort of remote management application to turn it on and retrieve it.
