$1m in edtech grants for Pa. schools

Grants provide teacher assistance for integrating new technology in the classroom.

Nineteen Pennsylvania school districts will each get $50,000 for education technology under the Getting to One grant program, Pa. Gov. Edward Rendell announced yesterday (press release.)

The grants give districts teams of coaches to help teachers use technology to prepare lesson plans, provide classroom instruction and develop student computer and technology skills.

"Our children need the skills and knowledge to build careers and obtain jobs to ensure their future," Governor Rendell said. "Our teachers need to be prepared to help them achieve those goals.

"We are providing funds to train our teachers in how to use technology tools effectively to make our students more competitive."
