$55.2 bln of microchips sold in Q3 2004

Worldwide microchip sales for Q3 2004 amounted to $55.2 bln, an increase of 3.2% from Q2 when sales were $53.5 bln and an increase of 27.4% from Q3 2003. Q1 2004 global chip sales were 32.3% ahead of Q1 2003. Q2 2004 global chip sales were up 40.3% YTY. Worldwide microchip sales for the first nine months of 2004 reached $157.6 bln, an increase of 33.2% from the comparable period of 2003, the Semiconductor Industry Association said.
