62 mln fixed broadband lines in Asia Pacific

Asia Pacific fixed-line broadband connections grew by 50% to around 62 mln in 2004. The fastest growing major Asian market in 2004 was Thailand, which, according to Gartner, grew by more than 1,000%, while the numbers of broadband connections in India, Malaysia, China and Australia at least doubled.

Asia Pacific fixed-line broadband connections grew by 50% to around 62 mln in 2004. The fastest growing major Asian market in 2004 was Thailand, which, according to Gartner, grew by more than 1,000%, while the numbers of broadband connections in India, Malaysia, China and Australia at least doubled. China, the biggest broadband market in the region with more than 21 mln connections, grew by another 100% as it continued its rapid churn of dial-up customers to broadband.
