64GB Zune HD coming soon, $20 reduction now in 16GB and 32GB models

The Zune HD is an excellent media player and today Microsoft announced an increased capacity to 64GB. They are also lowering the price of the 16GB and 32GB models by $20.

I really enjoy using my Sounders FC 32GB Zune HD and take it with me when I go for a jog. I have never had a concern with the 32GB capacity since I do not use it for video content and only load it up with Zune Marketplace content. Today, Microsoft announced they are bringing a 64GB Zune HD model to the ZuneOriginals.com site for $349.99 while also lowering the price a bit on the 16GB (from $219.99 to $199.99) and the 32GB (from $289.99 to $269.99) models. The new prices start today.

The new 64GB model will be available in Platinum, Black, Blue, Red, Green, Purple and Magenta colors with a range of custom back designs as well. With the 64GB model, Microsoft states you could carry up to 16,000 songs, or 20 hours of high definition video from Zune Marketplace, or 25,000 pictures.

Mary Jo also already reported on the Zune 4.5 firmware update that is coming very soon and I am personally looking forward to the Smart DJ capability that is excellent on the PC. Expanded video codec support may be nice too and might increase my usage of the device as a media player, but the large 4.3 inch display of my new T-Mobile HTC HD2 is much better for movie watching.
