70% of offline mobile phone buyers researched online

70% of people who purchased their phones offline used online research before buying, research by Compete and Yahoo! says. 72% more consumers searched for wireless products in 2005 than in 2004. Researchers expect 24 mln consumers to perform a keyword search for wireless service by the end of 2005.
