7th Level lets parents censor game content

Games publisher 7th Level said today its Ace Ventura game (£35) will allow parents to censor the language used in it.

The game will be released on Friday and allows parents to adjust the language and conversations based around the Pet Detective character. There is a long tradition of game censorship in titles such as Infocom's Leather Godesses of Phobos text adventure, and Sierra's Phantasmagoria.

Ace Ventura comes out just a few weeks after the title Schoolyard Slaughter caused a media stir. The game, whose object is to gun down children as they cross a playground, has been out for a couple of years but the recent Dunblane incident raised its profile.

7th Level can be contacted by telephone on 01932-355666.
