Parks Associates surveyed US households regarding their Media Center PC purchase plans. In Q2 2004 6% of all Internet households and 8% of those households who had broadband connection, considered buying a Media Center PC.

20% of US households would buy a Media Center PC to edit videos, 18% would record TV programs, 13% would produce photo slideshows, 12% would play DVDs, 9% would play CDs and DVDs, 9% would play digital music files, 9% would edit digital photos and 8% would play video games.

62% would connect a TV and PC with the newly purchased Media Center PC and use it as media hub only. 18% would watch TV on their computer. 17% of Media Center PC buyers would replace their TV, stereo and DVD player with Media Center PC. 3% would replace just TV set.
