A new Facebook for Windows Mobile application is launched
I just saw this weekend that there is a new application for Windows Mobile 6 devices called FriendMobilizer and just recently downloaded it on a couple of devices to try out. FriendMobilizer provides the following functionality on your device:
- Get notifications sent directly to your home screen
- Set your status
- Approve friend requests
- View Group/Event invites
- Check your wall and inbox
- Send your friends messages, pokes, and wall posts
It looks like the only major feature added over the website access is the notifications to your Home/Today screen, which can be important for some people. The BlackBerry Facebook client allowed you to upload photos too and I was hoping this application would do the same thing. I suppose you could always use ShoZu to upload photos, download your friends photos, and also update your status.
I tried FriendMobilizer on my T-Mobile Shadow, but kept getting the error message that "Your Internet connection very weak or down. Please restart FriendMobilizer when you have stronger connection." The thing is I had a full T-Mobile EDGE connection when I tried the application several times. I tried it on the HP iPAQ 910 via WiFi and discovered you need to have a SIM card in and registered with the service to use it. I then put in my AT&T SIM and was unable to get it to work since it appears you cannot have two numbers associated with a single Facebook account or email address. Finally, I tried it on the HTC Touch Diamond with my T-Mobile SIM and it seemed to start up fine, but then just froze when it launched and the right and left soft key menu items were not visible. After these trials, I gave up and decided to just use the website and ShoZu to work with Facebook on my devices. Maybe an iPhone application will come out when the Apple Application Store launches.
