Publishing software giant Adobe Systems began shipping on Monday new server products based on its PDF electronic document format. As previously reported, Adobe Document Server and Adobe Document Server for Reader Extensions will allow businesses to transform normally static PDF files into interactive documents that can collect data that can be shared with back-end enterprise applications.

The new products are accompanied by a revised version of Acrobat Reader, the free software PCs need to view PDF documents. Acrobat Reader 5.1 is available for download now. --David Becker, Special to ZDNet News
