Amazon extends backup period for cloud databases

The extension, which takes the maximum backup retention period to 35 days from eight, has been done to help customers that need to retain at least a month's worth of backups for compliance, Amazon announced in a blog post on Tuesday.

The relational database service (RDS) lets organisations run MySQL or Oracle databases within the Amazon cloud.
