Amazon launches online game store

Shop taps into multi-billion-pound computer and video game industry
Written by Matthew Broersma, Contributor

Online retail giant Amazon.com has launched a new store focussing on computer and video games. The introduction follows closely on Amazon's new automobile store, launched at the end of August.

The new store claims to offer "the largest selection of computer and video games and accessories available online or off".

Amazon will also offer an online gaming community and information about new and future releases.

Amazon's "Computer & Video Games" store taps into an industry that nearly surpassed the movie industry in revenues last year, with $7bn (about £4.3bn) in the North American market alone.

The store can be reached at www.amazon.com/games.
