The Transportation Department just set federal MPG standards for the 2011 models sold in the U.S.

The Transportation Department just set federal MPG standards for the 2011 models sold in the U.S. Those requirements: 30.2 mpg for cars and for light trucks, 24.1 mpg. SUVs are still classed with the trucks.

Standards beyond 2011 are still being considered.
