AOL forms lobbying group for high-speed cable access
A week after the Federal Communications Commission decided not to force cable companies to share high-speed data lines with their competitors, America Online and several other high-tech companies said they are forming a lobbying group aimed at getting access to those lines. AOL joins MindSpring Enterprises, Netscape Communications, MCI WorldCom, and several others in the new OpenNet coalition.
