APCON Monitor enables sharing of network analytical devices

Combining IntelliPatch switch with Monitor software eliminates need to physically move and re-cable equipment.

Apcon announced on Monday its Monitor software, which allows network equipment such as probes, sniffers, analyzers and intrusion detection systems (IDS) to be remotely shared and electronically moved across the network. Monitor software is built to work with Apcon's existing line of IntellaPatch layer-1 switches.

Monitor addresses the need to manage new and legacy analytical equipment on a tight budget, Apcon said.

IntellaPatch layer-1 switches provide high-density, any-to-any physical connectivity. The come in 16, 32, 64 and 144 port configurations and feature both fiber optic and copper interfaces.

Combining an IntelliPatch switch with Monitor software eliminates the need to physically move and re-cable devices, the company said. Monitor's Windows-based GUI allows drag-and-drop moving and sharing of monitoring equipment with enterprise switches.

A Recall Presets feature allows commonly used test setups to be repeated without reconfiguration.

Multiple data rates and media interfaces are supported. The Monitor software supports copper Ethernet as well as single mode and multimode optical Ethernet. It offers media conversion between optical and copper, as well as between single mode and multimode devices.

For security, encrypted passwords can be used. Multiple user levels can be customized for individual software features, such as changing port assignments or recalling a preset configuration.

APCON Monitor software comes bundled with various configurations of the IntellaPatch physical layer switches. Prices range from $5,000 to over $50,000.
