Apple Black Friday discounts may be run deep

According to investment firm Kaufman Brothers, Apple could be getting ready to offer some of the deepest Black Friday discounts ever.

According to investment firm Kaufman Brothers, Apple could be getting ready to offer some of the deepest Black Friday discounts ever.

Analyst Shaw Wu, writing in a note to clients, thinks that while past Black Friday discounts have been in the region of 5%-10%, this year Apple might push the discounts out as far as 15%.

"We think there may be discounts of up to 15% this year on Macs, iPods and accessories. It is not clear to us if iPhone will see a discount as well."

The reason for these cuts? To draw people into the store to spend more ...

"We believe the reason retailers are willing to take a hit is due to the ability of Apple products to draw people into stores and the high likelihood that these customers will purchase high-margin accessories including cables, cases and speakers."
