Apple has a spectacular quarter

Apple had a spectacular second fiscal quarter.

Apple had a spectacular second fiscal quarter.  Here are the highlights:

  • Revenue of $5.26 billion (compared to $4.36 billion a year ago)
  • Net quarterly profit of $770 million (compared to $410 million a year ago)
  • Gross margin of 35.1% (compared to 29.8% a year ago)
  • International sales account for 43% of revenue
  • 1,517,000 Macs shipped (up 36% on a year ago)
  • 10,549,000 iPods shipped (up 24% on a year ago)
  • Jobs - “The Mac is clearly gaining market share, with sales growing 36 percent—more than three times the industry growth rate.”
  • Apple expects revenues of about $5.1 billion for Q3 2007

It seems that Apple is an unstoppable corporate machine at present and can't put a foot wrong.  iPod sales are incredibly strong (strengthened by the introduction of the multi-colored shuffles) and the Mac sales are increasing rapidly which may or may not be because of the Windows Vista effect.
