Apple pares UK prices in one-day sale

The company has cut prices on MacBooks and other devices on its online store and some of its high-street outlets

Apple is cutting prices for a single day on a range of goods on its online store and some of its high-street outlets.

The discounts online apply mainly to its consumer products, such as iPods, and do not include some of Apple's best-selling business products, such as the iPhone and the majority of iMacs. It will, however, apply to some MacBooks and two iMacs.

Products in the sale include a MacBook with a 13-inch screen, a 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, and 2GB of memory for £888, reduced from £949. A 2.4GHz model with the same memory but a bigger hard drive is £1,088, reduced from £1,149. At the lower end, a 2.1GHz MacBook with 1GB of memory and a smaller hard drive is £688, reduced from £719.

Also discounted are large-screen iMacs with a 20-inch or 24-inch screen, priced from £768 (reduced from £799) to £1,328 (reduced from £1,389).

'Black Friday' — the day after the Thanksgiving holiday — is when many retailers in the US cut prices and hold sales. Apple is marking Black Friday with one-day reductions not in the US and other regions.

The UK sale applies only to online sales and specific Apple shops, including the Regent Street store in London.
