Apple, the iPhone, the iPad, the App Store and Adobe - Is it all leading to an antitrust shootout?

I've been fielding a lot of questions from readers who are wondering if Apple's iPhone/iPad/App Store monopoly, combined with the company's very public spat with Adobe, will end up in an antitrust challenge?

Apple's created for itself a massive closed ecosystem with the iPhone, the iPad and the App Store, an ecosystem that it controls with an iron grip. All apps have to be be blessed by Apple, and now Apple controls what tools developers can use to create apps. This move not only inconveniences a huge number of developers, but also further locks out Adobe from the lucrative mobile market.

Personally, it's hard to see how all this won't end up in an antitrust shootout.
