The apps for Apple's iPad launch are starting to surface and a bevy of sites are showing off screenshots of various applications. It's unclear whether there are any killer apps in the bunch, but there are indications that the iPad will be more than just a big iPhone.

The Boy Genius Report has a sizable gallery on the applications for the iPad. A few quick thoughts:

  • The selection is already pretty broad.
  • Games dominate the early apps.
  • It's possible that everyone will have a different use case. For example, the cookbook app could be handy to many.
  • Content approaches will vary. Yahoo's guide looked handy. It's uncertain whether anyone will pay more for a Wall Street Journal app on the iPad than a subscriber would for an online subscription.
