Apple's Siri set the pace for voice control on smartphones last year and competitors are now coming out of the woodwork to challenge Apple's new yardstick. Can Ziggy for the Windows Phone 7 usurp the voice throne?

Ask Ziggy is a free app available on the Windows Phone Marketplace that translates your voice into actions on the phone. It has a few advantages over Siri, in that it's not a beta product and can also hook into your social media applications to update your status.

We decided to put Apple's Siri voice command system head-to-head with Ziggy to see who would emerge victorious.

The rules of this game are that each device gets a go at getting it right without throwing us to an irrelevant web search or failing to detect what was said.
