Asia-Pacific external disk storage revenue will grow 24.3% in 2005

According to IDC, external disk storage customer revenue in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) - APEJ - grew by 24.3% in 2005 to reach $904.7 mln, up from $728.0 mln recorded in the first half of 2004. The total market for disk storage systems increased by 14.7% over the first half of 2004 to bring the overall market to $1,130.9 mln. Out of this, external storage accounted for 80.0% of revenue, as compared with 73.8% over the same period in the previous year. New external capacity installed by users in APEJ in the first half of 2005 almost doubled (96.8%) over the corresponding period in 2004 - 60,587 terabytes, as compared to 2004's 30,781 TBs.
