Host-eu, a London-based ASP, is on the brink of closure. Its executives are currently in last-ditch meetings in an attempt to find a buyer for the business.

Calls to the main switchboard of Host-eu this afternoon were met with a recorded message: "This is Host-eu. It is with regret we have to inform you that Host-eu is closed for new business. We are currently exploring all our other options." A spokesman from the company's PR confirmed the company was in meetings with potential buyers. No further details were available at the time of writing. The two most recent press releases on the company's site are titled 'Wide variety of ASPs thrive in UK' and - more portentously - 'ASPs bitten by ferocious market'. That release begins: "About four in 10 IT directors cannot list the main business benefits of using an application service provider, according to new research. The survey adds weight to critics of ASPs who have warned IT managers that ignorance of ASP business benefits and ferocious competition in the market will mean that many ASPs will soon go to the wall."
