ASUS has released the ZenFone 2 Laser for sale in the US starting at $199. The phone has an impressive list of components for the price, including dual-SIM support and a 13MP camera that has auto-focus by laser. The latter yields faster focusing while taking photos with sharper imaging according to ASUS.

The octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 should give the ZenFone 2 Laser plenty of power with 3GB of RAM and the removable 3000mAh battery puts battery life in the hands of the owner.

While the 16GB of storage in the $199 model may not be enough for some users, a 32GB model is available for $249. The micro SD slot on the handset handles up to 128GB memory expansion.

The 5.5-inch 1080p display has the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for durability in the field.

The ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser will be available in November at Newegg and the ASUS online store.

Phones at such a low price point will give the major phone makers, especially Samsung, stiff competition. These phones like the new ASUS handset are unlocked and with dual-SIM capability buyers can spend less than a third the cost of the major brands and take the phone to any carrier.
