AT&T bursts the iPhone tethering bubble; not until 2010

Just when I started getting warm and fuzzy about AT&T (finally) releasing MMS support for the iPhone they dump a bucket of icy water on my head. While it's not exactly an official rebuke, it looks like iPhone tethering is going to be on ice until sometime in 2010 – if you read between the lines in an email sent to 9 to 5 Mac from an AT&T representative:Just reading again – where did anyone promise tethering by EOY?

While it's not exactly an official rebuke, it looks like iPhone tethering is going to be on ice until sometime in 2010 – if you read between the lines in an email sent to 9 to 5 Mac from an AT&T representative:

Just reading again – where did anyone promise tethering by EOY? Where did you see that? We promised MMS by end of summer and ended up being a few days late for that…

The email was in response to 9 to 5 post stating that tethering would be available in 2009.

Is this another iPhone setback for AT&T? Is iPhone tethering important to you?

AT&T had not responded to a request for comment at publication time. I will update this post when/if AT&T responds.
