Storage company StorageTek has developed an accredited storage certification in conjunction with NSW TAFE.

The course, which is accredited by the Australian National Training Authority, will be offered as a TAFE certificate and also as a diploma. Students will study technical units taught by StorageTek, while more general subjects will be taught by TAFE institutions.

A statement issued by the company said new units "relating to data storage systems engineering functions in open systems, mainframe and networked storage environments" would be offered as a part of the course.

"Students will be trained to identify and rectify hardware and software problems, install and de-install systems, troubleshoot and resolve problems related to data storage, work in and build teams, and communicate effectively with clients and customers. They will also achieve competencies in communication, business, frontline management, project management, and some network engineering," the statement said.
