Aussie bank denies falling prey to Net hackers

The Commonwealth Bank Group in Australia has denied reports that its online banking services have been hacked.

SYDNEY (ZDNet Australia)--The Commonwealth Bank Group has denied reports that its online banking services have been hacked.

The denial comes on the back of a Melbourne radio station’s report yesterday that a computer technician--Mr Williams--claimed he could hack into the bank’s Quickline Internet Service and steal unlimited funds from the accounts of about 50,000 bank customers.

”The Group's online systems have never been hacked,” the bank said in a statement.

”The Group wishes to reassure customers that the security of customer funds and details is of paramount importance. The Group constantly monitors developments in technology and continually updates its security systems and procedures to combat fraud.”
