Altiris, for example, which began with desktop management, recently introduced a new server lifecycle management suite starting at an aggressive price of less that $300 per server. The software can provision Windows and Linux systems, and the company has alliances with Dell, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM.
