Autonomic installation

Autonomic computing proposes that an IT environment can operate with the responsiveness and independence of the human nervous system. It sounds a bit like science fiction, but it is one of the most important areas of technology research and development. An IBM-led group of companies is using autonomic computing concepts to deal with the software installation and configuration process, which account for a good portion of application crashes.
