in brief Last weekend, some customers buying goods from merchants with Bank of Queensland EFTPOS terminals had to have their purchases processed manually after payments failed to work.

The bank's transaction processing service provider had some technical issues that resulted in intermittent network failures while processing transactions from some terminals, a spokesperson for the bank said.

The problem had surfaced on Saturday night. A "partial" fix was cobbled together on Sunday before the service was completely fixed on Monday. The spokesperson said that the service provider had made system changes to address the problem and to reduce the risk of it happening again.

The problem didn't affect Bank of Queensland customers accessing their account using internet or telephone banking or withdrawing via ATM.
