Even though it isn't strictly an agreement with Auntie anymore…

Energis has won a 10-year extension to its contract with the BBC.

The broadcaster has used Energis for over a decade, for its television and radio distribution network, and now that will be broadened to "taking responsibility for the majority of the BBC's telecommunications requirements", according to a statement.

There is a question mark over a number of deals to supply the BBC since Siemens Business Services (SBS) took over the running of the corporation's IT and communications infrastructure in a 10-year, £1.9bn outsourcing agreement that went through this year but only after workers had threatened to strike.

Tom White, SBS MD, said there is likely to be more outsourcing in the media sector as companies look to reduce costs and embrace new technologies.
