Since no budget is defined, I've listed what I believe are the best earphones ranging from $10 all the way up to $600. All the earphones listed are fully compatible with the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, and all iPad models.

I've picked six different earphones in six different price ranges:

Under $10: Sony MDR-J10

A cheap and cheerful clip-style earphones, with decent sound quality and good fit. An idea pair for use in at the gym since there's little to go wrong, and when they do die, you can replace them cheaply.

Under $80: a-JAYS Four
