Best flickr coloring contest entries

From the "when life gives you lemons..." desk, Flickr has managed to turn a potential public relations disaster into a fun activity. For a few hours on Wednesday, the popular photo sharing site was unavailable. But in a stroke of genius, flickr operators gave all the millions of displaced users something to do during the down time - a coloring contest. Here are some of my favorites out of over 1,000 entries submitted.

The home page was replaced with two blank circles (from the flickr logo) and these instructions:

Arrggh! Our tubes are clogged!
Because this sucks*, we thought you might like to enter an impromptu competition to win a FREE PRO ACCOUNT!

Just print out this page and colour in the dots. When the site's back up, take a photo of your creation and post it to Flickr, tagged with "flickrcolourcontest".

Team Flickr will pick a winner in the next couple of days, and that lucky duck will get a free year of Pro.

Even though the prize was worth only about $25, the response was overwhelmingly positive. Over 1,000 pictures were submitted. As of this writing the winner hasn't been picked, but you can see some of my favorites here:
