Big-screen PC/TVs could skip UK
Compaq is to take on Gateway 2000's Destination with a big-screen PC-TV hybrid. However, it could be a while before the systems hit these shores.
Aimed at a consumer audience, the Compaq system is likely to sport a DVD player and hi-fi quality audio when it ships in the US this summer. Gateway's seminal 31-inch screen Destination has achieved respectable sales in the US but has never been seen here.
Neither company said it had near-term plans for a UK release.
