Blog oriented architecture is one-sided

Momentum’s Jeff Schneider called it the "Blog Oriented Architecture." Now, ComputerWorld's Patrick Thibodeau writes this piece on the rise of vendor-based blogging. It seems vendors are more than happy to host employee blogs at their sites. IBM wants to encourage more of its 320,000 employees to blog, and hosts about 30 blogs at this time. Microsoft has about 1,500 employee blogs, and Sun hosts more than 1,000 blogs.

Lots of great communication, but with one hitch -- the BOA is all coming from the vendors at this point. Some industry observers lament that more IT managers and CIOs aren't blogging. "If a few of those guys started doing that, you can darn well bet that we would be reading them. I sure would," said Tim Bray, director of Web technologies at Sun Microsystems Inc.
