Blunkett announces five million pounds for laptops

David Blunkett, Secretary of State for Education & Employment today announced that five million pounds will be allocated for the providing laptop computers to schools. Blunkett ws speaking at the BETT show at London's Olympia, which he was attending to officially launch the government's National Grid For Learning. The first fruit of the initiative will be a new Web site,the Virtual Learning Network, which will offer extensive learning materials for teachers and pupils.
