The awards are sponsored by Educational Computing and Technology Magazine and BESA, and were presented at Olympia on Tuesday, January 14. Gold Awards were picked up by Apple, BT, the Cable Industry Association, QED, Lego Land, and Research Machines.

Commenting on the fact that both BT and the Cable Industry Association picked up an award, Blunkett joked: "Now that's what I call diplomacy".
