Keycorp and First Data have solved the last problem remaining from the glitch that had seen the Bank of Queensland and Bankwest merchant terminals refuse cards because of incorrectly dated transactions.

First Data and Keycorp together provide merchant services to the two banks. A particular version of software from transaction specialist Keycorp had played up as 2009 became 2010, dating merchant transactions as 2016 instead of 2010. This meant that current credit and debit cards were being read as out of date.

On the day the glitch was revealed, the company developed a fix which allowed transactions to go ahead, but receipts were still being dated 2016.

This problem has now been fixed. BWA Merchant Services, a unit of First Data, said that the companies had found a solution.

"BWA Merchant Services can confirm the terminal software issue that had impacted some of its EFTPOS terminals has been resolved with receipts now showing the correct date," a spokesperson said. The fix was implemented automatically overnight.

Merchants were encouraged to ring the services helpline, 1800 243 444, if they had further problems.
