Box touts European customers and growth

Online file sharing and cloud content management service Box is touting its growth in Europe, saying it now has thousands of paying European business customers.

The platform, which is used by 150,000 businesses and 15 million users worldwide to manage and collaborate on content, now employs 40 people in London and is planning to appoint executives in Paris and Munich to serve a growing customer base in France and Germany.

The company is also looking to open its tenth data hub in Dublin. The network endpoint will become part of Box's data-transfer Accelerator Network, which uses patent-pending technology to route traffic and provide business and enterprise customers with quicker file uploads.

Box also announced a deal with French energy management company Schnieder Electric that will see its service rolled out to 50,000 globally-distributed employees over the next three years. The deal is one of Box's largest implementations to date, and follows a one month of pilot Box with 2,200 users in the IT department across 57 countries and 2,000 business users.

In addition to Schneider Electric, Box announced deals with several other European businesses, including Hopkins Architects, Mondi packaging company and video equipment distributer Rightster.
