Boxee for Windows debuts, sort of

Remember Boxee, that lovable cross-platform media center/social networking browser-thing that got into a spat with Hulu awhile back?

If you didn't know, Boxee was only available for Mac and Linux. Until now:

Boxee for Windows has made a quiet entrance to the stage, and judging by the comments in the support forum, the alpha version has a long way to go before it's ready for showtime, with crashes all over the place.

Still, it's a wonder that Windows came last in the development cycle. Any insight as to why that is, readers?
