The Register points out to digital music populxrity surging in the United Kingdom, as the latest BPI (British Phonographic Industry) report claims. Even though during the first 5 months of 2004 the British online users legally purchased only 500,000 digital tracks, over the past three months the number of digital tracks sold over the year reached 2 mln. Both Napster and Apple iTunes Music Store work in the United Kingdom, but the competition is not at the level where the price wars would start. Overall the UK music album market grew 3.7% year on year between Q2 2003 and Q2 2004. Single sales were up 6.4% Q2Q.
