Broadband connections grew 20% in second half 2003

AlwaysOn Network today talks about the recent FCC report on broadband growth. Federal Communications Commission found that broadband connections grew at a 20% rate from July 1 to Dec. 31, 2003. Growth rose from an 18% pace in the first half of 2003. The number of homes and small businesses connected to the Internet via high-speed service climbed to 28.2 mil. That was up from 23.5 mil in the first six months of 2003. There are more than 107 mil households in the United States, according to the Census Bureau. Cable carriers added 2.7 mil customers in the latest period, boosting their market-leading total to 16.4 mil high-speed lines in service.
